Friday Morning Quarterbacking

I was only half watching the game last night. I had it on, without sound (that’s a better way to watch it anyway) and had the draft on my computer.  My impressions were that Wacha looked good until he didn’t and the runs scored for the Cardinals were thanks to the bottom of the order and Matt Carpenter.  The rest of the lineup either did nothing, or got hits that didn’t matter.  When something like that happens, it’s not surprising when a loss occurs.

Random Observations and Elucidations:

  • Any one of almost any other Cardinal running in front of Peter Bourjos makes it extremely difficult not to yell “Don’t pass him!” at my television.
  • Losing 3 out of 4 to the Royals is unacceptable.  This edict should be written into every player’s contract, and fines imposed against anyone who contributes to such losses.
  • Daniel Descalso should never be a defensive replacement for Kolten Wong when Mark Ellis is available.  In fact, Daniel Descalso should not even be on this roster, but I repeat myself.
  • Yadier Molina is a smart guy.  Smart guys who are slow runners do not take extra bases on Alex Gordon.  Be better than that.
  • Jhonny Peralta is starting to try my patience.  I had just started to like the guy despite my initial objections to his signing.  Don’t push me Jhonny.
  • Norichika Aoki getting beaned in the helmet by a stray Molina throw was kind of creepy with the sound off.

Conclusionary Ramblings:

  • Losing 3 out of 4 to the Royals is unacceptable.  This edict should be written into every player’s contract, and fines imposed against anyone who contributes to such losses.
  • Sometimes repeating yourself is an effective way of getting a point across.
  • The next 3 games in Toronto could get ugly.
  • Last night was far from the worst loss the Cardinals have suffered.   The Cardinals have played worse baseball.  However, note bullet point one above.
  • Something is terribly wrong in Marilyn World when watching and listening to Bud Selig for 3 hours is more interesting than watching the Cardinals play lately.  Please do something about this.
  • Final Conclusion— Dear St. Louis Cardinals:    Stop sucking.   Love,  Me.
